About
GearzUp EduTheatre
We are an educative theatrical organisation which is aimed at developing and nurturing learners’ creativity to enhance effective teaching and learning. Our production was established in 2023 with the aim to bridge the teaching and learning gaps between teachers and learners. It was founded by Mpho Mokatile, a former English and creative arts teacher from Rantailane Secondary School (Tshwane West District). Having taught English and creative arts for about a decade, a number of issues occurred such as, making literature or reading culture interesting for learners which led to some of them leaving text books at home. Introduction dramatization of content in class seemed to have a great impact on learner performance, thus improving results.
Our Team
Our team comprises of well-trained theatre actors who have studied drama, who creatively depict characters from short stories on a well set up theatre stage with sound, lighting and props. This serves as an advantage for visual and auditory learners as not all learners learn the same way. We have created this platform to curb the high failure rate of English literature and also make creative arts subject fun and relatable. All the activities are done in-line with Annual Teaching Plans respectively in relation with CAPS.
